[voice; recorded message.]

Ah -- hello! You've reached me, Edogawa Conan. I can't take your message right now, but leave me a message and I'll call back as soon as I can.

Thank you!

What you can do for Conan.

If you're at all familiar with how Sherlock Holmes deduces people's occupations/habits/hobbies from their attire, appearance, mannerisms, then you know how Conan works. He's not only extremely observational, with an eye for differences, but he's a reasoning nut who likes practicing his skills. However 1. I am not as smart as he is and 2. In roleplay, sometimes we don't mention the body language/details of appearance that would allow a character like Conan to make deductions about people.

Please feel free to let me know if there's anything about your character that might provide a clue for Conan to work on/notice! I would really appreciate it, thank you!

What Conan can do for you.

Conan's small and appears to be a child so naturally people are going to be protective/try to curtail him getting into trouble. I'm okay with this -- it's one of the hazards of playing him. Picking him up if he looks like he's going to run off, hugging him, tousling his hair, minor stuff like stepping on his foot, that's all okay, and you don't need my permission for.

Anything above PG, please contact me first or if you think we're going that direction! Conan looks seven and I work with kids professionally, so for anything serious, it'd have to be approached very carefully for me to feel comfortable. Thank you!

Hospital Lab.

Located on the third floor of the Hospital in Sigyn, the lab is a outfitted with the most up to date lab technology that you can imagine -- think C.S.I rather than real life! It gleams with a hygenic glow, and is mostly used for medical tests and bloodwork, the diagnosis side of hospital work. However, since the Travellers arrived and one tiny detective joined as an intern, this has been expanded to include the recently formed:

Forensics Department.

Currently consisting of 5 NPC lab technicians and Conan, the Forensics department is dedicated to investigating any suspicious events that come their way, including the murder suicides in Hel, Heimdall, Odin and Thor as well as incidents of NPC deaths. Under Conan's direction, they're expanding their services to include scene exams, finger-printing and other standards of police investigation. Right now, they're hiring, looking in particular for people with experience in detective work or forensic analysis. A medical background is appreciated as when the lab proper is short-handed, the forensics department will be enlisted to help out (likewise, the lab staff are available to assist the forensics department as needed).

The department is currently sharing the lab facilities with the lab staff and have access to the morgue in the hospital basement. They have two small meeting rooms and a shared office off the main laboratory offices, as well as a storage room.

Current Forensics Staff:
Department Head: Edogawa Conan ([personal profile] holmes_fanatic)
Conan appears to be 7-years-old, and is from modern day Tokyo. He lives in Heimdall, but is one of Hel's. He's got a very thorough knowledge of murder investigations, police procedure and autopsies. Conan directs investigations and scene exams, teaches the forensics personnel about police procedure and scene exams and is learning the use of the medical technology used in the laboratory.

Senior Technician: Analie Hagen [NPC]
Analie's spent most of her adult life working in the lab. She's mid-30s, very fit, and has long brown hair that is always elaborately braided. In everything but her hair she is no-nonsense and practical, known in the department for being painfully blunt.

Technical Advisor: Sander Visser [NPC].
Sander is 50s, with a sandy gold beard flecked with grey. He's a larger man, easy going and relaxed, primarily in charge of keeping the machinery in the lab going. He can fix or tweak most of the hospital laboratory to suit the needs of a case. Drinks more coffee than any one man should.

Intern: Henrik [NPC].
Still somewhat grey -- vague, anxious to oblige and nervous.

General staff member: Thea [NPC]
General staff member: Jonas [NPC]

Now Hiring!

Please copy/paste the form in the textbox below with your character's info, and we can set up an IC interview/meeting! Pay is good, but the hours are erratic -- and when there is a case on, overtime is not uncommon!

This is just a quick list of any documents that people with a particular interest in Conan might be able to find.

Newspapers.

It shouldn't take much searching to bring up a Japanese newspaper in which Mouri Kogorou, or 'Sleeping Kogorou' as he's more famously known, appears. He's really famous in this version of Japan, and as barely a week goes by without a high-profile case, he's in the news a lot.

Conan came to Asgard mid-case, so the most recent newspaper story should be about an apparent suicide following a hostage situation in Mouri's detective office. Once you've found that, if you stick to that newspaper and work backwards you'll pull up Mouri's cases quite regularly -- and even a few stories detailing Conan's exploits, usually against The Kaitou Kid, a gentleman theif.

If you keep going back, back, back, you'll see that Mouri's rise to fame has taken place in just under a year -- and there's a couple of mentions of 'Mouri Kogorou, a private detective', without the nickname, then nothing, then the newspapers report the cases of one Kudou Shinichi instead.

[!]You'd have to be really, really, suspicious and dedicated to get that far, so please contact me if you want your character to be aware of Shinichi, please? I don't want to spoil anyone's fun, but it's no fun for me if it happens too quickly, you know? I want there to be CR and gradual plot development!

But if you've made it as far as Kudou Shinichi, you might decide to try looking up 'Kudou' in the library as a whole -- and you'll discover:

Novels.

Kudou Yuusaku -- mystery writer! He's most well known for his novels detailing the exploits of anti-hero The Knight Baron, a dramatic and dark masked character! The novels are hugely popular, and Yuusaku's very intelligent, so it's safe to assume they're original, clever and well-written. There is a picture of the author in the back cover, wearing a very familiar pair of glasses.

If you want any further info on any of this, please let me know! I will be happy to oblige.
